Complementary feeding practices among mothers of 6-23 months of aged children at a tertiary level hospital in Nepal

Introduction: Complementary feeding is defined as the process starting when breast milk no longer sufficient to meet nutritional requirements of infants then other foods and liquids are needed, along with milk. This study was conducted assess complementary practice among mothers 6-23 months aged children. Methods: A cross-sectional in Kathmandu 240 children attending pediatric outpatient department community medicine from June September, 2022. purposive sampling technique used data were collected using a structured questionnaire through face-to-face interview. The obtained entered into Epi-data converted Statistical Package for Social Sciences-20. Descriptive inferential statistics statistical analysis. Results: prevalence Minimum Dietary Diversity (MDD),Minimum Meal Frequency (MMF), Acceptable Diet (MAD) 49.16% (0.42-0.55, 95% Confidence Interval), 44.58% (0.48-0.61, Interval) 27.91% (0.65-0.77, respectively. Children age 18-23 statistically significantly associated MDD, MMF, MAD Type family, listening radio media, breastfeeding bottle since six MMF well birth MAD. Conclusions: concluded that more likely have recommended standard practices than younger-aged groups.
